Peace on Earth

And the peace of God , which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:7

Are you tired of being a slave to anxiety? Do you live in turmoil all the time? Peace is the antidote for this kind of living, and it's made available to you!

Everyone is searching for peace, especially around the holidays! The peace that we are speaking of is a peace within. A peace that comes from one source alone--God.

Just as joy isn't grounded in our emotional state, peace isn't grounded in outside circumstances. Peace isn't a destination to which we arrive, peace is a state that is available for us to live in consistently!

Our circumstances can be chaotic, yet our spirits can be at peace! The Bible talks about an  indescribable peace that is available for all of God’s children to walk in (Phil. 4:7).

When you walk in the identity that God created for you to walk in, not only do you have overflowing joy (See Joy to the World), but a peace that is indescribable. This peace will identify you as a follower of Christ.

When the world is in panic and chaos, your identity in Christ opens a window of peace that doesn’t make sense to the unbeliever. In order to experience peace, we must invite God’s spirit into our lives to  guard our hearts and minds!

Often, we let our reactions align with the world in times of crisis and hardship. When we do this, we are acting outside of who we are created to be; we step out of faith, and our hearts and minds are left unguarded.

Hope in Jesus is your anchor-- and peace becomes your guard. Keep your anchor secured in His promises and the peace of God will not let your heart and mind be penetrated or corrupted by fear and distress!

" You keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on you." Isaiah 26:3

Peace is a mark of the believer, but God will not force peace on you. Just like joy, it is a fruit of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22, peace is also a fruit!

Peace is available to every child of God. However, if you let your mind control your thought life you, will most likely not experience peace. Your thoughts are to be taken captive to the obedience of Christ. You can't just let yourself think whatever you want to! Our responsibility is to not align our minds with the world and its fears--or even to just be led by our emotions--but to renew our minds with God’s Word.

" Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by tasting you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2

We must be reminded to renew our minds with God’s word daily. In the time in which we are living, it is easy to live in a constant place of anxiety. This is your old nature (2 Corinthians 5:17): your former identity. When you became a believer, you gained a new identity, and it is one of peace and of a steadfast mind! When your old nature tries to rise up, guard your mind and walk in peace and trust!

"May grace and peace be multiplied to you in knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of divine nature, having escaped the corruption of this world." 2 Peter 1:2-4

The knowledge of God and who He is releases the knowledge of His promises. It's by that revelation that you can live--not being led by your thoughts or emotions--but instead receiving a peace that passes all understanding! You can live free from anxiety and fear!! Choose to walk in peace today!

Declare out loud who you are in Christ today and that you will not bow to fear and anxiety but will walk in perfect peace as you keep your mind steadfast on Him!
